oh, sweet the joy this sentence gives.

This year our Easter consisted of listening to wonderful Sacrament talks, Easter dinner with friends, and lots of talks about and feelings of gratitude for our Savior.

He lives!  All glory to His name!
He lives, my Savior, still the same.
Oh, sweet the joy this sentence gives:
"I know that my Redeemer lives!"

workout wear wishes.

Please, please, please with a cherry on top?

A lady I work with gave me a pass to her friend's new fitness studio for a week of free classes.  You'd better believe I'm going to take advantage of that and hit up as many yoga, zumba, and stretching classes (Yes, stretching classes!) as I can!  The fact that the studio is right above a bakery might be counter-productive...

Let's talk about this workout wear for a minute though.  I know Lululemon has had a rough week with the whole "see through yoga pants" issue, but that doesn't make me wish for that fabulous coral jacket any less.  I'll just make sure I stick with Target's workout capris. ;) Also, did you know that you can design your own pair of Nikes?  I must live under a rock, because this is news to me.  Hello, mint running shoes!  I hope to be seein' you around.

no-bake energy bites.

About a year ago, I discovered this healthy (read: semi-healthy) treat that is quick to whip up and is a great on-the-go snack.  I have no clue where this recipe came from, but I'm sure you could quickly find some variation on Pinterest or Allrecipes.com.

No-Bake Energy Bites
(makes 18-20 bites)

1 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/3 cup honey
1 cup coconut flakes
1/2 cup ground flaxseed
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla

Mix everything together in a medium bowl and let chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.  Once chilled, roll into balls and enjoy.  Store in an airtight container and keep refrigerated for up to 1 week.

There are some people who instantly draw you in with their funny personality, sarcasm, and love for life.  And this girl did that for me.
:)

Happiest of happy birthdays to you!

ever been to a glass factory?

Friday evening we met up with some friends and decided to go check out this free event that was going on not too far from home at a glass factory.  We got there just in time to watch some glass art presentations, which in all honesty, weren't too exciting since the whole process is so sloooow!  The finished product sure is cool looking though. And expensive!  I could buy a house, or an expensive sports car, or a private island, or a small army, or the entire state of Vermont with all of the glass art that we looked at!

After this fun artsy experience, we decided to end the night with some fine dining.  Since we don't drink wine and weren't willing to dish out $100 on dinner... Noodles & Co. and Ted Drewes Frozen Custard it was for us! ;)  The poor man's fine dining experience.  It's the small things that count more anyway, right?

spring necessities.

I don't know about you guys, but with the weather warming up and the seasons changing (officially, that is, next week!), I'm feeling the need to brighten up my wardrobe and our little apartment with all of these fun colors!  Plus, isn't that swimsuit just to die for?

(Disclaimer:  I understand these are not necessities. Just wants. :))

when family comes to town.

My younger (but taller!) brother and mom came out to St. Louis two weeks ago to hang out with us for a few days.  We went to the Arch, walked through the Missouri History Museum, tried Lebanese food, and played in the tunnels at the city museum.  We learned new card games, tried new desserts, and got our first Ted Drewes Custard of the year!  Nothing beats family time. :)

because smashing cake is so fitting for a friday.

Happy Friday!
Go party, you animals.
And smash some cake in your lover's face.

i have no trouble admitting the following right now:

1.  I laid in bed all of Saturday, Sunday, and Monday watching the first season of Once Upon A Time (I can't decide how I feel about this show.  My opinion changes from episode to episode.).
2.  I drank an entire bottle of cold/flu medicine.  I almost died this weekend coughing up a lung.  I'm sick.
3.  Okay, it was only half of the bottle.
4.  I kept hitting a dead end on a project at work and got so stressed out, that I took a two minute breather to walk outside, kick a rock, and go back in.  It helped.
5.  I love not having my Facebook account activated right now!  Only like 10% of me misses it.  (I'm pathetic.  It hasn't even been a whole week yet...)
6.  This past week I discovered the world's greatest chocolate chip recipe.  The cookies turn out perfectly each time and look like they should be in a Martha Stewart magazine.
7.  I'd rather sleep for an extra 20 minutes and go to work with my hair partially dry than wake up earlier to dry it.
8.  I tend to spend more money than I should at Target, so I grounded myself from that big, red, enticing bullseye.
9.  I always trip over my left foot.  Most of my "right" shoes are in great condition, while my "left" shoes are lookin' a little sorry.  I know, it's embarrassing.
10.  I have like 10 different birthday cards/wedding cards/baby gifts/birthday presents that need to be mailed out to people, but I haven't made it over to the post office yet.  It's been like 2 1/2 months.  (You know who you all are...sorry! :))

st. patty's ideas.

I love holidays and I love that St. Patrick's Day is coming up in 2 weeks!  You'd better believe I'll be adding green food coloring to our milk for every meal on March 17th.  And probably every meal for the week leading up to it (hey, you think it's fun, too...).  Here are my favorite Pinterest pins with links below that will add some "gold" to your day of green and leprechauns and lucky clovers.
